We are delighted that you are interested in using Chorley Chapel. Our chapel has always been a place of gathering, reflection, and community, and we are glad to share it with others. This guide sets out how we can work together so that everyone enjoys the space safely, respectfully, and in keeping with its character as a place of worship.
1. Who Can Use the Chapel
Our doors are open to individuals, community groups, charities, and local organisations. We simply ask that activities are in keeping with the spirit of the chapel and respectful of its setting. Chapel services and events will always take priority, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone.
2. Booking
To book, please contact our Booking Secretary. Bookings are confirmed once a simple form and deposit are received. We’ll always try to make the process as straightforward as possible.
3. Hire Charges
£5 per hour, up to a maximum of £40 per day.
We kindly ask hirers to also contribute towards electricity and logs used for heating.
Payment is made in advance, and if plans change, just let us know as soon as you can.
4. Access & Security
Access is arranged through Sue Vincent, who will be happy to help.
Hirers are responsible for locking up, turning off lights and heating, and leaving the building secure.
Please take all food waste away with you so the chapel stays fresh for the next group.
5. Using the Chapel
The chapel is perfect for community events, concerts, meetings, and gatherings.
Activities that are unlawful, disruptive, or inconsistent with the chapel’s ethos are not permitted.
We ask everyone to treat the building with care and respect for its religious character.
6. Health & Safety
During your hire, health and safety is your responsibility.
Please familiarise yourself with fire exits and evacuation procedures.
The building has a maximum capacity of 80.
Any accidents should be reported to the Chapel Committee.
7. Safeguarding
If your group involves children or vulnerable adults, please ensure you have appropriate safeguarding policies and DBS checks in place.
8. Insurance & Responsibility
The chapel’s insurance covers the building itself.
Hirers are responsible for their own public liability insurance.
Any damage caused during hire will need to be made good.
9. Caring for the Chapel
Please leave the space clean and tidy.
Return furniture to its original position.
Avoid using pins, tape, or anything that could damage walls or fittings.
10. Consideration for Neighbours
Please keep noise to a considerate level.
To respect our neighbours, any music or amplified sound audible beyond the chapel must finish by 23:00.
11. Compliance
Hirers are responsible for following any relevant laws, including licences for music, or alcohol. If personal data is collected, GDPR rules apply.
12. Cancellations
Sometimes chapel needs must come first (for example, funerals or special services). In such cases, we may need to cancel a booking, but we will always give as much notice as possible. Future bookings may be declined at the chapel’s discretion if these guidelines are not followed.
